Tom van 't Hek has had a long career in sport. As a hockey player, he took part in the Dutch hockey team for 16 years. As a club player he played several seasons for Kampong in Utrecht. The agile left striker became Dutch champion with Kampong and participated with the Dutch team in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. As a coach, Tom van 't Hek was in charge of the Dutch women's hockey team for six years. Under his leadership, the team became European champions, won the Champions Trophy and won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games twice (1996 and 2000). Before Tom van 't Hek started working as the national coach of the hockey ladies, he successfully completed his medical studies. He was a doctor for four years, but he could not let go of the sport. In 1994 he was appointed as national coach and in 1995 Tom van 't Hek started presenting radio programs. On Radio 1, he presented 'Het Hek van de Dam', 'Radio Tour de France' and the Sunday afternoon edition of 'NOS Along the Line'. From 2013 to the summer of 2016, Tom van 't Hek was the regular presenter of the radio program "De Morningspits" at BNR Newsradio, which can be heard every morning from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
