For several years now, Ranomi Kromowidjojo has been delivering performances that are very striking for her young age. Already in 2005 Ranomi made her debut at the European Championships swimming at the age of 15 and in 2008 she was proclaimed 'swimming talent of the year'. Ranomi's specialties are the 50 and 100 m freestyle. Both individually and in the relays, Ranomi Kromowidjojo has renounced the predicate talent. She is now one of the headwomen of Dutch swimming. Already in 2006 Ranomi swam in the relay team. In the meantime she has won all the prizes in the 4 x 100 meter freestyle. The relay team is reigning European, World and Olympic champion! For this achievement they were chosen in 2009 as 'Sports Team of the Year'. Individually Ranomi already reached the international podium. Individually, she made her final breakthrough in 2010 with European and World titles. This achievement was all the more remarkable because a few months earlier she had to leave the European Championships behind due to meningitis. At the World Cup long track in 2011 she swam individually to a silver and bronze medal. In 2011 Ranomi was elected sportswoman of the year. At the London Olympics in 2012, Ranomi swam among the greatest swimmers of the Netherlands of all time by winning two gold medals and one silver one. During the World Cup of Barcelona in 2013, Ranomi rushes to the world title at the 50 meters free and to three bronze medals. These medals will make Ranomi the most successful Dutch swimmer ever at the World Cup. During the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro she takes a fifth (100 meters) and sixth (50 meters) place. After these somewhat disappointing Games Ranomi retook herself in 2017. A successful World Cup followed after which she swam a world record in Berlin during the Worldcup on the 50 meters fairly short track. And not just any world record, Ranomi is the first swimmer under 23 seconds on this distance! Ranomi Kromowidjojo is characterized by her discipline, drive and spontaneity. These qualities in combination with her great talent ensure that she is at the beginning of a very beautiful and successful career!
