Why Maurits Hendriks Book as a speaker ?

In his presentations Maurits Hendriks gives his vision on coaching, talent development, innovation, collaboration and dealing with cultural differences in an inspiring way. In doing so, he emphatically knows how to translate his vision to the business world.

During his law and communication studies, Maurits Hendriks was focused on traineeships. When he was in his twenties he went abroad at his own expense, with the aim of acquiring as much hockey knowledge as possible. After a role as assistant coach, Maurits had the opportunity to become head coach at HGC in Wassenaar in 1995. That year he immediately became national champion with HGC. In addition, he became assistant to national coach Roelant Oltmans with the Dutch men's team. In three years’ time they won the Champions Trophy and became both World and Olympic Champions. When Oltmans quit in 1998, Maurits Hendriks succeeded him as national coach. A big challenge was waiting for Hendriks. The Netherlands was already the best team in the world and staying at the top turned out to be a bigger challenge than ever. The success of the past years was equaled. During the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, The Netherlands won the Golden Medal under the leadership of Hendriks. After the Olympic Games of 2000, Maurits Hendriks decided to take on a new challenge. In 2001 he joined the Spanish hockey association. He started of behind the scenes, as technical director. In 2002 he went to work as national coach of the Spanish national men's team. The team was ranked 11th in the world rankings and as Maurits Hendriks put it: 'They literally and figuratively did not speak the same language'. For two years Maurits Hendriks travelled city and country to gain insight into the different cultures of Spain. This resulted in winning the Champions Trophy in 2004, the European title in 2005 and a silver medal at the Beijing Games in 2008. In December 2008 Maurits Hendriks was appointed the successor of Charles van Commenee as technical director of NOC *NSF. Maurits was also appointed Chef de Mission for the London 2012 and Sochi 2014 Olympic Games. For the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Maurits was again appointed as Chef de Mission. At this moment he is the technical director at the NOC*NSF.
