Before Marc Lammers became a hockey coach, he played hockey at a professional level.
With his Club Den Bosch he won both the Dutch and the European title. In addition, Marc Lammers played for the Dutch team five times. Even before Marc Lammers stopped playing hockey, he was active as a coach. For a short time he was a player/coach in Italy, after that he led the national women’s team of Spain. After the Sydney Olympics in 2000, he moved to the Netherlands, where he built up an impressive track record. In 2008 he was rewarded for all his efforts. He achieved the highest achievable, a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics!
Marc was appointed national coach of the Belgian hockey men in September 2012, where he was the coach until 2014. Marc Lammers is the example of a modern, innovative coach. The ‘Sinterklaas’ stick, the BH-heart rate, and penalty corner glasses are some of his groundbreaking ideas that have led to major changes in hockey. Marc Lammers isn’t sitting still. Innovativeness is central here. Not changing, is standing still.
