About Maartje Paumen
Maartje Paumen is a former captain of the Dutch women’s hockey team and as a penalty corner specialist she has won many prizes including Olympic gold in 2008 and 2012. Maartje is known for her leadership qualities and absolute will to win.

As a child, Maartje, born in Geleen, started playing hockey at the local HC Geleen. After two intermediate steps at HC Scoop and Oranje Zwart Maartje started playing for hockey club ’s-Hertogenbosch (2004) where she won more than ten national titles and also the Europe Cup 1 (seven times). In 2004 Maartje debuted for the Dutch national team, becoming European, World and Olympic Champion. Her highlights are the gold medals at the Olympic Games of 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London). From the year 2011 she was also the leader of the Dutch national team. The most recent success was winning gold at the World Championships in The Hague. After the Olympic Games of 2016 Maartje decided to quit playing for the Dutch team. She continued to play for another season for the club from Den Bosch after which she decided to move to Royal Antwerp in 2017.
